In woodcraft the students in Grade 9 have designed and worked on a wall clock. The aim of the project was to achive accuracy in symmetry when working with wood and a professional finish with varnish or paint. A great many of the pieces were fantastic!
The students learned the process of tailoring pants from a commercial pattern, including washing fabric, copying a pattern to paper then fabric, measuring, seams, cutting fabric and sewing machine techniques. The final touch was to embroider a pocket with a motive inspired by a culture.
In textile crafts the Grade 7 students have been working with different yarn projects. It was specially fun was to see all kinds of different Amigurumi: bears, monkeys, fruits and vegetables. Amigurumi means crocheted soft toys in Japanese and this is a very popular handcraft now days, appreciated by all ages.
