Welcome

The grass is green again

The birds are singing, the grass is finally green again and the flowers are breathing life into the flower beds. There is a tangible sense of anticipation among the pupils and above all, the students in grade 9. There are just a few weeks left of their four years at IESB. College is looming after the summer, and our students will be compared with students from other schools in Stockholm. Will they rise to the challenges? Of course they will! I want to reassure you all. We know that all our students will leave IESB with a strong understanding of the subjects taught, essential skills and an immeasurable experience. There is nothing to fear. Honor the work and the work will honor you!

Friday May 11th we finally mark the completion of construction of the exquisite new Junior School building with a “taklagsfest” by Söderby Entreprenad.

A team from Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma will represent Stockholm in the national finals of a popular science and technology competition, Teknikåttan, after we beat 187 other schools in the regional finals at KTH. Now that we have been named the best class in Stockholm. 8E can now look forward to representing the Stockholm region, and Internationella Engelska Skolan, in the national final in Umeå on Thursday, 24th of May.

Go for it IESB!

Aiming high

We have reached the second half of the spring semester and the National Tests are almost completed. Students are pleased with their efforts and believe that the samples were not too difficult. Let us hope that the results are as good as the previous years’ and reflect the hard work that both students and teachers have put in since the beginning of the academic year. Our exchange students from Canada have come and gone. Read more

The light returns

Despite the cold winter weather many degrees below zero, I can still hear the happy laughter and shouting of the IESB students from the playground in the air. I am proud to see the students play football, take in the winter sun and talk with their friends. The light has returned after a long dark winter in the sky but has clearly never left IESB.  The entire third floor of the D-building has been taken over for 180 students in grade 9 to write the National Test in Swedish and need complete silence to concentrate. Classes are held with the class room´s doors open and I can pop in and enjoy the creative atmosphere in the various lessons. Friday, January 20, we have Open House for new students who will join us in August. Read more

The excellence continues at IESB!

Our exchange students recently returned from Canada after three incredible weeks there. Not only did they attend school but had the opportunity to travel within the region and experience Canadian culture. A special thanks to the schools and the families who hosted them. Our students will be sharing their experiences in a series of presentations during mentor time in week 47. You can also read more about their adventure on their blog www.iesbexchange.wordpress.com. As the seasons change, so does our school.

Several weeks have now passed since school start and both new and returning students seem to have settled into their new routine. It pleases me each day to look out my window as the trees start to change color we watch how the new building is taking place. Construction on Junior School seems to progressing without any dramatic disturbance to students or staff.  I also see the students enjoying a game of soccer on mini soccer field, covered in synthetic grass. Great to see it is put to good use. Read more

Welcome back to school!

While the students have been enjoying the summer holidays, Internationella Engelska Skolan in Bromma has been a hive of activity! Building has begun here at school in preparation for our expansion 2012-2013. An extension will be added to the end of A-building and students will notice quite a change when they come to school.  It is with excitement and anticipation that we will watch this development over the next 12 months.

Have a great summer!

The school year has now come to an end and our students are away, enjoying the beautiful summer weather. We had a fantastic end of year ceremony with speeches, awards and music. The rain may have dampened our clothes but not our spirits as the graduating grade 9s threw their caps to the sky. We wish them the very best of luck in where ever their paths lead them and are confident they are well equipped for continued success! Read more
